Jeremy P. Scudamore,

Jeremy is a chemicals industry veteran, having started his career at ICI in 1971 and rising up through the company, holding various general manager positions within ICI and Zeneca and then serving as Managing Director of Zeneca Seeds, Business Director of Zeneca Agrochemicals and Regional Executive – Eastern Europe, Zeneca Group. In 1997, Jeremy became Chief Executive Officer at Zeneca Specialties and Chairman of Zeneca Manufacturing Partnership, before leading the £1.3bn buyout of Zeneca Specialities from AstraZeneca in 1999 in what was, at the time, the largest ever buyout in Europe. Jeremy became Chief Executive of the newly formed Avecia Group, where he successfully restructured the business into a pure biotechnology company, and in 2005 became Chairman of the group. Jeremy has since turned his focus to a portfolio of non-executive roles within the technology industry, including ARM Holdings PLC, Stem Cell Sciences PLC and Oxford Advanced Surfaces Ltd. He is also Chairman of England's North West Science Council.
