Preparation Chemist

The Role

Producing samples of catalyst for testing:

  • Working under the instructions of the Research Chemists
  • Both writing and following chemical procedures 
  • Producing samples in a timely fashion  
  • Recording accurately the sample history
  • Characterisation of the catalyst, both physical and chemical

General Laboratory Duties 

  • Ensuring that safe working procedures are followed
  • Operating and maintaining test equipment
  • Ordering supplies
  • Reporting findings (lab book, presentations etc)

Applicant requirements

  • Hands on experience – highly practical (essential)
  • Chemistry laboratory experience
  • Customer presentable – ability to communicate well, written and verbal
  • Basic skills in MS Office applications
  • Team player (small team therefore essential)
  • Self organising (routine maintenance plans, making own priorities etc)
  • Good attention to detail (ability to reproduce the catalyst samples is essential)
  • Analysis (understand key issues and make recommendations)

Education

  • HND/C or lower degree
  • 2 years or more of laboratory experience

Further Information

  • Location in Milton Park, Abingdon
  • The salary and package will be dependant on the candidate £20-25k
  • 7% contribution to company pension scheme
